‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’ Teaser Trailer Offers Stunning Sneak Peek of the Netflix Prequel Series

Today Netflix released an amazing two-minute teaser trailer for The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance, a prequel series to the groundbreaking 1982 puppet fantasy film helmed by Jim Henson and Frank Oz. The stunning visuals in this return to the world of Thra leave little doubt that the team behind the project has captured the heart and soul of the source material, and once again chronicles the struggle of power between the evil Skeksis and peaceful Gelflings.

The ten hour-long episodes, directed by Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk) are is set to premiere on August 30th and star the voice talents of Taron Egerton, Anya Taylor-Joy, Nathalie Emmanuel, Mark Hamill, Natalie Dormer, Eddie Izzard, Andy Samberg, Mark Strong and Alicia Vikander.

Based on The Dark Crystal, Jim Henson’s groundbreaking 1982 feature film, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance tells a new epic story, set many years before the events of the movie, and realized using classic puppetry with cutting edge visual effects. The world of Thra is dying. The Crystal of Truth is at the heart of Thra, a source of untold power. But it is damaged, corrupted by the evil Skeksis, and a sickness spreads across the land. When three Gelfling uncover the horrific truth behind the power of the Skeksis, an adventure unfolds as the fires of rebellion are lit and an epic battle for the planet begins.
