Another online casting rumor from the trades continue prove to be true. Thankfully whatever Marvel saw in Joaquin Phoenix never made it past the final talks stage, so now Benedict Cumberbatch has now officially lock, stock and barrel has been confirmed to portray their cinematic Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange!
“Stephen Strange’s story requires an actor capable of great depth and sincerity,” said Producer Kevin Feige in the casting announcement . “In 2016, Benedict will show audiences what makes Doctor Strange such a unique and compelling character.”

… Marvel’s “Doctor Strange,” scheduled to hit theaters November 4, 2016. The film, directed by Scott Derrickson with Jon Spaihts writing the screenplay, will follow the story of neurosurgeon Doctor Stephen Strange who, after a horrific car accident, discovers the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions.
Let’s not forget that a certain Dr. Stephen Strange was mentioned in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, so Marvel has already set the stage to introduce sorcery into Stage Three of their cinematic universe.
