A sneak peek at the December issue of Empire has surfaced, featuring a brand new image of Jared Leto in full costume as the Suicide Squad‘s The Joker in addition to other images from the film!

The cover photo of the subscriber’s edition shows Leto shirtless in an open purple jacket, revealing more of the insane tattoos on his torso, while keeping it comfortable with Arkham Asylum-issue string drawn pants. This new pic is very much in line with the very first image released by director David Ayer in April. So while it doesn’t quite deliver the same brutal punch in the gut when we were first introduced to the new Joker, it still promises we can expect something like we’ve never seen before.

I’m confident we’ll see Leto decked out in many different looks throughout the entire film, which from what we can already tell from set pics, will cover more than one time period. We still have yet to see The Joker in his signature suit, whether it be traditional purple, or white if taking another cue from The Dark Knight Returns. High style, machismo and a flashy presentation will be major factors with this inked-up gangster influenced Joker. Have you seen that glowing neon Ferrari?

This new image of the villain may reflect what he’s wearing when he’s initially sprung from Arkham, since he’s wearing some of the inmate attire. We can be sure this will not be the only style choice for the terrifying Clown Prince of Crime.

In these additional images from Empire, we can see Leto as The Joker with the pre-Harley Quinn Dr. Harleen Quinzel (Magrot Robbie) during an Arkham Asylum therapy session.
