It’s not shocking news to learn Game of Thrones‘ star Gwendoline Christie will be donning the very cool looking armor of who we on the internet have dubbed the Chrome Trooper in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Though now it’s officially out of the bag and among one of those leaks that has now proven to be true via Vanity Fair.
Tucked away on Vanity Fair’s website among the other Annie Leibovitz portraits released today from the upcoming June issue devoted to Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a full reveal image of Christie suited up as Captain Phasma! The commanding officer of the next generation of Storm Trooper certainly looks like a force to be reckoned with.
The caption as it relates to Phasma reads:
“The Phasma Menace. First Order Officer Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) surveys the rubble after an attack.”
The caption then goes on to reference the image on the opposite page of Lupita Nyong’o adorned in performance capture dots for her role as the CGI character Maz Kanata.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directed and co-written by J.J. Abrams, is set to open on December 18, 2015. The cast includes Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Andy Serkis, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Crystal Clark, Pip Anderson, Warwick Davis and Max von Sydow.
