After the big bump that was replacing Edgar Wright as director, production is now officially underway on Marvel’s Ant-Man. The Peyton Reed helmed film began principal phoptography in San Francisco yesterday.
The rather low-key first image released (let’s give’em credit for getting this out so quickly) is of Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang, looking a bit battered and bruised decked out in a hoodie by the Golden Gate Bridge.
The film will bear a heist influenced storyline with Michale Douglas’ Doctor Henry Pym passing the Ant-Man torch to the Rudd’s thief Scott Lang. The Ant-Man technology and costume developed by Pym can shrink its wearer in size while increasing his strength.
Here is the film’s official synopsis:
Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
Ant-Man is set for July 17th ,2015. The film also stars Evangeline Lilly, Corey Stoll, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, John Slattery, Abby Ryder Fortson, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Wood Harris, and T.I..
