Sony has released an epic final trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and it doesn’t disappoint. You can’t not wonder what the production budget was on this sequel to Marc Webb’s 2012 big screen reboot of the Marvel wall crawler. This movie looks beyond massive in scope and  damn, does it look expensive.

This latest sneak peek offers some insight into the relationship between old friends Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) and Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), the deeper secrets hidden in OsCorp’s grand sinister agenda, and some teases for all of the villains (Dehaan’s Green Goblin, Jamie Foxx’s Electro and even the Paul Giamatti’s Rhino). Comic book lore fans can also further debate the ultimate fate of Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy in the series after seeing new shots of Spider-Man swinging into action to save her as she falls from high above ground.

Official synopsis:

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 swings into theaters in 3D on May 2nd. Marc Webb returns as director, and the film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Campbell Scott, Embeth Davidtz, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti and Sally Field.
