Deadline has reported confirmation from Paramount that SNL alum and Bridesmaids star/screenwriter Kristen Wiig has joined the all-star cast of Anchorman 2, the next big screen adventure for legendary newsman Ron Burgundy.
Wiig will join returning Anchorman stars Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, Paul Rudd, and Christina Applegate in the sequel to the 2004 comedy. She will reportedly play the wife of Carell’s dim witted weatherman Brick Tamland.
It was Applegate who broke the news via her Twitter account last night, welcoming Wiig to the cast. “So excited Kristen Wiig has joined our cast for Anchorman 2,” she revealed.

Anchorman 2 is set for release on December 20, 2013.
