ANT-MAN Teaser Trailer Shows Off Paul Rudd As Marvel’s Micro Hero

We got our first look at the teaser trailer for Ant-Man during tonight’s debut episode of Agent Carter. The upcoming conclusion to Marvel’s Phase Two of films stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Evangeline Lily and Corey Stoll.

The teaser is a slow burn, choosing character over action. The human element is set up pretty clearly by Douglas’ Dr. Hank Pym, creator of a super suit that allows its wearer to shrink to less than the size of an ant while retaining full human strength. The dynamic between the scientist and the ex-con Scott Lang played by Rudd is given center stage until we get a few worthy special effects shots of Rudd in action wearing the Ant-Man costume. It’s promising to see there are nods to the obviously ridiculous notion of calling a superhero “Ant-Man” in a world with established heroes with much cooler monikers.

I can’t say this first look blew my mind, but this is only a teaser trailer of course and there’s only so much that will be revealed. No matter what this film will be scrutinized to a degree no other pervious Marvel film has. There have been many chefs in the Ant-Man kitchen over the years, so the final product on the big screen will by no means be the typical result from the Marvel machine.

Here is the film’s official synopsis:

Armed with the astonishing ability to shrink in scale but increase in strength, con-man Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) must embrace his inner-hero and help his mentor, Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), protect the secret behind his spectacular Ant-Man suit from a new generation of towering threats. Against seemingly insurmountable obstacles, Pym and Lang must plan and pull off a heist that will save the world.
