Speedsters are coming to Central City! The Flash has added Insurgent‘s Keiynan Lonsdale in a recurring season two role as Wally West, who in the DC Comics lore takes on the mantles of both Kid Flash and later The Flash (in addition to being a founding member of the Teen Titans).
Candice Patton plays Iris West and Jesse L. Martin plays her father Detective Joe West in the show. It’s yet to be revealed if Lonsdale’s Wally will be Iris’ nephew like the source material or be related in some other way in the show’s continuity.
“Just like when we met Grant for the first time, we instantly knew Keiynan embodied all the heart and courage of a hero. We are so excited to be bringing this much-beloved character onto the show,” The Flash‘s Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a press release.
The show has also added Teddy Sears as Jay Garrick, known as the Golden Age Flash to comics fans, who will take on a mentor role to Gustin’s Barry Allen.
(Professor) Zoom is also set for next season which will likely somehow allow Tom Cavanagh to reprise his role as Eobard Thawne via the repossession of Professor Wells’ body.
The Flash season two premieres on The CW on October 6th at 8 p.m.
