Last night during Sony’s CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas, the next big screen wall crawler Tom Holland took to the stage and revealed Spider-Man: Homecoming as the title of the upcoming reboot.
How much the title fits into the film’s plot remains to be seen, but it’s a not-so-subtle nod to Spider-Man joining the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe with his re-introduction in Captain America: Civil War following the deal between Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios. Sony had exclusive movie rights to the character with the five previous big screen adventures starring Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield, but Marvel Studios now has creative control of this latest take with Tom Holland taking on the role in Civil War and the upcoming solo film.
