Ryan Reynolds seems to be pretty more than OK with the fact that test footage he shot on the down low for the proposed hard-R Deadpool solo movie made its way online in July. Reynolds and fans have been enthusiastic to get another big screen adventure starring Marvel’s Merc With A Mouth after the disappointing treatment the character got in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
The online reaction to the footage was pretty positive, despite that it was never meant to be seen by the public.
“But who cares,” Reynolds told the Niagara Falls Review. “The movie has been in a state of limbo for a while. There was such an overpowering reaction to the footage, you sort of feel like, ‘Oh, so we weren’t crazy for our reasons for loving this character, for loving this role.’ It’s interesting to see the power of the Internet. It’s awe-inspiring, actually.”
Reynolds gladly reprised the role in the pitch reel meant for 20th Century Fox’s eyes only, providing the voice and performance capture for this CGI-heavy version of the popular anti-hero.
“And it’s neat that Twitter and Facebook and Instagram can move mountains when used in the right way,” he added.
