Filming of the Han Solo film is officially underway, and nothing says that more than this hot off the press official set photo of the cast and directors gathered in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon.
Starring Alden Ehrenreich as the young Star Wars Corellian smuggler, the image also features Donald Glover (who will play Lando Calrissian), Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrleson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, plus co-directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Chewbacca will be played by Joonas Suotamo, stepping in for Peter Mayhew.
“Watching such inspired people from all over the world, with such unique voices, come together for the sole purpose of making art, is nothing short of miraculous,” Lord and Miller said via StarWars.com. “We can’t think of anything funny to say, because we just feel really moved, and really lucky.”
Here is the what we now know today from Lucasfilm:
Cameras are rolling on the adventure-filled past of the iconic scoundrel and everyone’s favorite Wookiee; principal photography on the untitled Han Solo Star Wars Story officially began February 20 at Pinewood Studios, London.
The movie will explore the duo’s adventures before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope, including their early encounters with that other card-playing rogue from a galaxy far, far away, Lando Calrissian.
The still untitled Han-Solo spin-off is set for theaters May 25, 2018.
