The latest look at Suicide Squad dropped tonight during the MTV Movie Awards and it presents a tone just as off kilter as the previous trailer set to Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody. But we get a lot more of Margot Robbie’s scene stealing Harley Quinn (with her mallet) and a few teaser shots of Ben Affleck’s Batman.
“What if Superman had decided to fly down and grab the president right out of the Oval Office? Who would have stopped him?” A valid question in the big screen universe posed by this latest sneak peek set to Ballroom Blitz, and probably all the more poignant given the recent mixed to negative reviews for the dark tone of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
The big screen debut of the motley crew of DC super-villains will set the stage for the eventual show down between Jared Leto’s Joker and Affleck’s Caped Crusader (whether that takes place in a Batman prequel film or BvS follow-up is up in the air) and hopefully expand this world in a take no prisoners way that fans will embrace.
Directed by David Ayer, Suicide Squad is set for for release on August 5, 2016 and stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (Joker), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Jay Hernandez (El Diablo), Common, Adam Beach (Slipknot), Jim Parrack, Ike Barinholtz and Scott Eastwood.
