A new look at the highly anticipated Dawn of the Planet of the Apes has been released, and gives us much better understanding of the plot to the follow-up to the 2011 reboot of the iconic series. As an old school Apes fan and based on its timeline of the apes/human struggle, Dawn reminds me in its broad plot of the fifth, final and weakest installment of the original series, 1973’s Battle For The Planet of the Apes.
Frankly based on the strength of Rise of the Planet of the Apes and this sequel’s director Matt Reeves, I have no fears that this film will falter in satisfying fans regarding this next chapter. Plus lets not forget for a second the mind blowing performance capture by Andy Serkis and photo realistic CGI.
That said, here is the latest look at Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Official synopsis:
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), Dawn arrives in theaters on July 11 and stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Judy Greer.
