It took Warner Bros. all of two days to fill the vacant Wonder Woman director’s chair after Michelle MacLaren departed the high profile gig over the dreaded so-called ‘creative differences.’
Patty Jenkins will now take the DC Comics Amazon icon to the big screen in the solo film starring Gal Gadot set for 2017 according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jenkins is best know for her directing debut, 2003’s indie Monster, which scored the film’s star Charlize Theron the Academy Award for Best Actress.
Wonder Woman should fit right into Jenkins’ wheelhouse since she was set to helm Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World. That likely landed her directly on WB’s speed dial. However Jenkins eventually departed the Thor sequel reportedly for, ironically enough, creative differences with the studio.
Gadot will make her official debut as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice which hits the big screen on March 25, 2016.
