Star Wars: Episode VII is still a way’s away, and fan favorite The Clone Wars has it’s swan song set for Netflix next month, but there is a new hope to hold us over in the interim. Star Wars Rebels is the latest CGI spin-off set in the iconic galaxy far far away and Hasbro unveiled all the tie-in toys at the Toy Fair in their midtown showroom during an exclusive presentation. The upcoming animated series, which will air this fall on Disney XD, is set between Episodes III and IV, and promises to explore a lot of as yet unseen places in the Star Wars universe. The conflict between the fledgling Rebel Alliance versus the Galactic Empire will take center stage with new characters like the evil Inquisitor, astromech droid Chopper, Kanan (“the Cowboy Jedi”), Ezra the young con artist, and the purple alien Zeb (based on an early Ralph McQuarrie design).
Step aside Darth Maul, The Inquisitor has been tasked by Darth Vader to hunt down remaining Jedi Knights and wields a red double-bladed lightsaber equipped with a Force Disc.
Role play with a pre-Episode IV Stormtrooper helmet and blaster.
Rebels will also feature an early model of the TIE Fighter.
Chopper, Star Wars Rebels‘ grumpy rickety astromech droid.
Kanan, the Cowboy Jedi, will be voiced by Freddie Prinze Junior in the show.
Zeb is based on an early design for Chewbacca by legendary Star Wars concept artist Ralph McQuarrie.
Ezra, the fourteen year old street smart con artist.
