Swinging by the DC Collectibles booth each year at the Toy Fair is always a treat. Seeing new additions to their various lines of statues, action figures and collectibles always leaves a fan boy like me impressed by the creativity and detail that goes into the replicas of their most iconic characters.
It goes without saying, since it is DC after all, I saw several different impressive recreations of their Holy Trinity: Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman. Notably, Wonder Woman has a statue inspired by the 1987 first issue cover of George Perez’ reboot run on the comic book. Batman got himself a zombie edition as well as a statue using Bruce Timm’s animated imagery along with Superman.
New 52 editions of Nightwing, Supergirl and Batgirl were on display and Infinite Crisis fans will be glad to see that series represented by Atomic Green Lantern, Poison Ivy and Pajama Party Harley Quinn. Additions to the Bombshells and Cover Girls line this year are Stargirl, Black Canary, Queen Mera, plus a Gotham City Garage Catwoman statue.
An impressive Justice League chess set made its debut along with a porcelain doll of Sandman’s Dream, a black and white Harley Quinn, a massive Arkham City Clayface statue and pair of tie-in figures based on Oliver Queen and Deathstroke from The CW’s Arrow.
