Paramount dropped a brand new trailer and four character one-sheets to the Michael Bay-produced big screen reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles starring Megan Fox, Will Arnett and David Fichtner. The posters give us a real solid look at the diesel, and of course edgy, re-design of the iconic heroes in a half shell, the second full trailer takes the tone to a lighter fare than probably a lot of us had hoped.
The new turtles, despite the amazing fluid motion and realism state-of-the-art CGI provides, come off as somewhat creepy. I attribute this to the combination of their hulking look, bizzare infant-esque faces, and the expected cowabunga leases on life. It just doesn’t quite mesh the way I had expected, in this trailer anyways. The new enormous Shredder looks terrifying, but didn’t we see something in the same vein last year courtesy of The Wolverine‘s Silver Samurai?
I still have my fingers crossed, but have adjusted my expectations accordingly.
