With Avengers: Endgame recently bringing a conclusion to the epic MCU storyline that spanned three phases and encompassed twenty-three films, Marvel Studios returned to SDCC’s Hall H and announced the line-up for the upcoming Phase 4 slate.
Phase 4 will have 11 projects in all. It kicks off with Black Widow in May 2020 and concludes with Thor: Love and Thunder in November 2021. Disney is expanding MCU storytelling in a major way via streaming series on Disney+ featuring fan favorite characters.
What we won’t get in Phase 4 is an Avengers-esque all-star movie. There will undoubtedly be several underlying story threads and characters hinted throughout the films which will be addressed fully in Phase 5 (i.e Mutants, The Fantastic Four, Deadpool etc.), but a new big bad uniting the next wave of MCU heroes isn’t in the cards just yet.
Also it will be at least 2022 until new big screen post Phase 4 adventures are on deck for Black Panther, Spider-Man, Guardians of the Galaxy and Captain Marvel. Though that’s not to say we won’t see them in supporting roles before then. Confirmation on a timeline for Marvel’s returning 20th Century Fox characters taking their places in the MCU was not revealed.
So without further adieu, here is Marvel’s Phase 4 capped off with the first surprise entry into Phase 5.

A surprise conclusion to the massive list of Hall H announcements, it was revealed Blade will make his return to the MCU to kick off Phase 5.
