A sequel to Jurassic World should come as a surprise to absolutely no one. The film has grossed over $1.5 billion worldwide and now stands as the third highest grossing film of all time. Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment have officially confirmed the fifth entry in the Jurassic series by revealing a July 22nd, 2018 release date!
Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will return for the follow-up. Colin Treverrow will not direct the film, but will join Stephen Spielberg as an Executive Producer.
Trevorrow and Derek Connolly will pen the screenplay, which begs the question: Is there an adventure left to be had on the island? By the end of Jurassic World it certainly seems that all things to do with InGen’s operations should be shut down by any number of governments. There was enough hinting of the much bigger picture for the genetically modified dinosaurs in the world beyond Isla Nublar, but it remains to be seen what direction the series goes into from here.
But more importantly, will Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire wise up and invest in a good pair of flats for this next round?
