GAMBIT Big Screen Solo Film Sets Its Director

Gambit

Gambit, 20th Century Fox’s X-Men spin-off starring Channing Tatum in the title role, has a director: Rise of the Planet of the Apes helmer Rupert Wyatt.

The fan favorite Cajun mutant, aka Remy LeBeau, will make his big screen solo debut in the film set for October 7, 2016. Gambit has the power to imbue objects with explosive properties. As a gambler, he has a penchant for turning playing cards into deadly weapons.

Taylor Kitsch played the character in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But with the movie timeline rebooted following the events of Days of Future Past, Channing Tatum can slip into the role.

The next X-Men film, Apocalypse is currently shooting and will be set in the ’80s. Where in the X-Men timeline Gambit will take place remains to be seen, as well as whether Tatum may make a cameo in the film before the solo adventure that hits theaters five months after Apocalypse.
