You never know what will be revealed when anymore. To mark the 75th anniversary of the Joker, via Twitter Suicide Squad director David Ayer shared the first official image of Jared Leto decked out as DC Comics’ Clown Prince of Crime. I think we can all agree it’s like no other version of the Joker we’ve seen before!
Though he has his signature pasty complexion and bright green hair, Leto’s Joker is heavily inked with tattoos, bears no eyebrows and sports metal teeth. Add one purple glove to round out this truly insane first look for Suicide Squad. Let’s not ignore that forehead ‘Damaged” tattoo either just to hammer in how crazed a Joker we should brace ourselves for on the big screen.
“The Suicide Squad wishes you a Happy Anniversary Mr. J!” Ayer said in his tweet.

Let’s not get too ahead of ourselves on going too nuts on the massive overhaul here. If Joker is introduced in prison (having been put there by Ben Affleck’s Batman), chances are this is the way we’ll see him: shirtless and maniacal. It’s safe to say at some point he’ll be loose on the streets again, and in an actual costume that offers a throwback to the familiar Joker look.
Images that recently surfaced online from the Toronto set zoomed in on Jared Leto’s cell phone offered just that, Joker decked out in a white suit. Since WB’s new cinematic Batman is taking heavy cues from Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns, Joker indeed wears a white suit in the graphic novel.
Suicide Squad is set for for release on August 5, 2016 and stars Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Jared Leto (Joker), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Cara Delevingne (Enchantress), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Killer Croc), Common, Adam Beach, Jim Parrack, Ike Barinholtz and Scott Eastwood.
