DC FanDome Delivers Trailers To “The Batman,” “Zack Snyder’s Justice League,” “Wonder Woman 1984″ and Sneak Peeks At The Suicide Squad,” and “Black Adam”

Fans don’t need to leave their homes anymore for big news reserved for the conventions mostly canceled throughout 2020. The virtual experience of the DC FanDome delivered quite an array of great trailers, sneak peeks, new insights and gigawatts of star power from the various superhero based projects coming our way.

HBO Max is giving a big push to Zack Snyder’s Justice League, which will be presented as four one-hour installments sometime in early 2021. That means Snyder shot a staggering amount of footage for Justice League, and further will distance his version from the one poorly received version presented in theaters with the substantial re-shoots from Joss Whedon. This trailer montage gives us out first live action look at Darkseid, Superman decked out in his black post-resurrection suit, Iris West being rescued by Flash, and sneak peeks at many other sequences as originally envisioned by Snyder.

Matt Reeves’ The Batman has taken a bit of a bat backseat in recent weeks with the announcements of both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck donning their respective capes and cowls joining Ezra Miller in The Flash‘s bug screen multiverse centered storyline.

Reeves told FanDome participants he had shot only 25% of the film before shutting down production in England due to COVID precautions. Needless to say, despite all this the latest take on the Dark Knight with Robert Pattinson taking on the lead role doesn’t disappoint. Set during Bruce Wayne’s second year as Batman, this gritty noir teaser also provides us first looks at Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, Zoe Kravitz and Catwoman, an unrecognizable Colin Farrell as Penguin, and some dialogue from Andy Serkis’ Alfred Pennyworth and Paul Dano’s Riddler.

Wonder Woman 1984 gets a full trailer, complete with out first good look at Kristin Wiig with her full fur flying as Cheetah. Trading the WWI era for the neon 80’s, the fish out of water scenario is juxtaposed in this second installment, with Diana of Themyscira now explaining “modern” world to Steve Trevor. The Patty Jenkins directed film certainly takes the spectacle up several notches, while Gal Gadot continues to knock it out of the ballpark as the iconic Amazon warrior princess.

The James Gunn written and directed follow-up to 2016’s first mission has his bat sh*t crazy fun all over it. Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinneman and Jai Courtney return, joined by an army of new recruits including Idris Elba, Pete Davidson, John Cena, Daniela Malchior, Peter Capaldi, and Mayling Ng. Many of the latest Squad’ers seem destined to have scant screen time, and short tours of duty by design.

Dwayne Johnson teased the Black Adam block on Friday via his massive social media presence. We got the first one-sheet design and quite a bit of concept art from FanDome teaser videos and it was revealed the Justice Society of America members Dr. Fate, Hawkman, Cyclone, and Atom Smasher (played by Noah Centineo) would take on the ancient anti-hero in the film.

Shazam 2 now officially has a title: Fury of the Gods. The reveal came courtesy of Faithe C. Herman during the FanDome panel. The Shazam Family cast returns led by Zachary Levi along with director/writer David F. Sandberg, who shared this on Twitter from. The film is scheduled for release on November 2, 2022.
