Marvel dropped the first decidedly dark and bloody trailer to Daredevil, set to hit Netflix on April 10th.
Daredevil is the first of four Marvel based series (plus a mini-series) set to stream on the channel. The 13-episode adaptation stars Charlie Cox as The Man Without Fear, Matt Murdock, a blind NYC lawyer by day and masked vigilante (with super heightened senses) at night.
This is by far the darkest project put forth by Marvel yet, which makes it perfect for Netflix and can push the envelope for the so far squeaky clean comic book adaptation genre. The aesthetic is extremely moody and looks to focus on violent vigilante crime fighting rather than colorful superhero heroics. The costume is reminiscent of early Frank Miller designs, and not the dark red and devil horned costume the character is better known for.
Here is the show’s official synopsis:
Marvel’s Daredevil is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell’s Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night.
Daredevil premieres in its entirety on Netflix on April 10th and stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Vincnet D’Onofrio as the Kingpin, Elden Henson as Foggy Nelson, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple, and Ayelet Zurer as Vanessa Marianna.
