Yesterday, Zack Snyder tweeted a sneak peek image of the latest version of the iconic Batmobile that will undoubtedly be seeing some action in the upcoming Man of Steel sequel starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot. You can check out that image HERE. The dircector also teased that the full reveal would be on the way today, and he made good on that promise. But we also got a huge unexpected bonus: Ben Affleck suited up in the new monochrome Bat costume!
For this older version of Batman, the Caped Crusader has a more traditional look from the comics: smaller ears, a less armor-like aesthetic plus protruding veins over the suit’s bulky muscles (which add to the intimidation factor) and a black utility belt with square pouches. There is a welcome and unmistakable nod to Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns with that massive bat symbol as well.
Let’s get to the new Batmobile. Its design is a throw back as well, back to being a car at least, as opposed to the ATV on steroids that was the Tumbler which tore up the streets of Gotham in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy. It definitely shares a lot in common with the Tim Burton Batmobile, like the canopy, though tricked out with the massive tires that the Tumbler had.

The Man of Steel sequel, aka Batman Vs. Superman, with Zack Snyder at the helm, is set for May 6th, 2016 and stars Henry Cavill (Superman), Ben Affleck (Batman), Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), Laurence Fishburne (Perry White), Ray Fisher (Cyborg) and Holly Hunter.
