The Apes have guns. The Apes can speak. The Apes ride horses. The Apes are pissed. It’s war.
We’re less than a month away from the July 11th premiere of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and as promised, Fox dropped the final trailer today.
There is nothing about this film that doesn’t look amazing. Rupert Wyatt set the bar high with the 2011 reboot, and Matt Reeves looks to have taken things even beyond the next level. I had the opportunity to screen 20 minutes of footage here in NYC, similar to what was shown at CinemaCon in March. The CGI and performance capture led by Andy Serkis that I saw was simply jaw dropping, and these were not elaborate battle scenes. Fox is doing everything right with this rebooted series, and I already have little doubt we’ll be counting the days until the third installment hits theaters in the summer of 2016.
You can also check out the first clip below titled “Go” that shows a tense stand off between ape and man, with Caesar laying down the law.
Here is the film’s official synopsis:
A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.
Directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), Dawn arrives in theaters on July 11 and stars Andy Serkis, Jason Clarke, Keri Russell, Gary Oldman, Toby Kebbell, Kodi Smith-McPhee and Judy Greer.
