In a very cool retro marketing move, Lucasfilm revealed the names of the new Star Wars characters first seen in The Force Awakens teaser trailer via mock-ups of the Topps trading cards of yesteryear.
That already fan favorite rolling Astromech boll droid is named BB-8. Daisy Ridley is Rey (not Kira as widely rumored), Oscar Isaac plays Rebel pilot Poe Dameron, Stormtrooper John Boyega is Finn, and the new Sith villain shall henceforth be known as Kylo Ren.
“I’m only sorry we couldn’t give everyone a stick of gum,” director J.J. Abrams told Entertainment Weekly, which got the exclusive first look at the images.
