First Cast Image Assembles The Heroes From DC’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW! Caity Lotz Talks Her Return as White Canary!

The CW has released the first image of the cast from its upcoming third DC Comics-based series, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.

Featuring an ensemble all-star cast of heroes and villains from both Arrow and The Flash, the next show from the CW will hit the airwaves mid-season to create a triple threat of action for the network.

“They will live together as three shows and crisscross as needed,” said CW president Mark Pedowitz at the network’s upfront presentation this morning in New York City.

The fate of the world is at stake in a time travel scenario for Legends stars Brandon Routh (The Atom), Wentworth Miller (Captain Cold), Caity Lotz (White Canary), Victor Garber (Martin Stein) and Dominic Purcell (Heat Wave). Joining them are Arthur Darvill as the time tripper Rip Hunter and Ciarra Renee (Hawkgirl).

With Caity Lotz’s Sara Lance killed off early in Arrow‘s third season, she will indeed be resurrected as a new version of the character, with a more heroic take on her League of Assassins’ trained Canary described as “a bit of Dirty Dozen and Redemption” by Pedowitz.

“There’s going to be some differences,” Lotz told Entertainment Weekly before the upfront event. “There’s going to be some repercussions [from] whatever happened and it’s definitely going to make a difference in how she is. I’m really looking forward to it. The stuff they were telling me about it and where they’re going to go with the character is exciting.”

An updated show synopsis has also been released:

When heroes alone are not enough… the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?
