Ben Affleck Confirmed To Direct BATMAN Solo Film

Not exactly the best kept secret in the waves of comic book movie rumors, but it’s now official: Ben Affleck will direct (and of course star in) Warner Bros.’ upcoming Batman solo film

Last night during WB’s CinemaCon presentation, studio chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara confirmed Affleck will helm the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice spin-off. Still yet to be officially announced are the screenwriters, but the team is likely Affleck and DC Comics Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns.

Here’s what Affleck said to DC Access last month:

“Geoff Johns is a brilliant guy. I consider him to be the most valued resource on all things comic book, and every time I like something in the comic I always mention it he goes, ‘Hh yeah, I wrote that.’ Now I just think he’s bulls******* me and he says he wrote everything. You know, he and I are working together on something and I really am excited about it, and I love him, he’s the best.”

Tsujihara also told the crowd of theater owners the studio is committed to releasing ten DC Comics based films in the next five years.

No release date for the standalone adventure was given, but it joins the massive line-up that includes Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, Justice League, Parts 1 & 2, Aquaman, Cyborg, The Flash, Shazam! and Green Lantern Corps.

Still no word on Man of Steel 2.
