Angel Concept Art Revealed From X-MEN: APOCALYPSE

Bryan Singer shared concept art form the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse tipping us off that Warren Worthington III, aka Angel, would be joining of the team. We now have some additional pics that make us ask which side will he actually be on? The title villain Apocalypse may have Arch Angel at his side.

The first piece of concept art below from Singer features Worthington being presented to what looks like a theater audience. With his large white wings, there seemed to be little doubt it’s the Mutant code named Angel.

In addition to two new telling images, Empire has confirmation straight from the director that Ben Hardy (Eastenders) has been cast to play Angel in the film.

“Ben Hardy is Angel – I shall confirm it for you!” Singer told Empire. “But he’s not a very nice Angel! And that’s all I’ll say…”

Now looking at these two new pics, Mr. Worthington will follow the path as seen in the comic book lore and join Apocalypse as Arch Angel, one of his deadly Four Horsemen. These metal wings certainly look beyond any technology available in the film, which is set in the ’80s, and lend themselves to the kind of advanced transformation capable of an immortal being such as Apocalypse.

Hardy joins fellow new cast members to the series Sophie Turner (Jean Grey), Tye Sheridan (Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (Storm), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Nightcrawler) and Lana Condor (Jubilee) in the last chapter of the second trilogy of X-Men films.

Oscar Isaac (Inside Llewyn Davis, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) is set to play the titular villain Apocalypse. James McAvoy (Charles Xavier), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique) and Nicholas Hoult (Beast) will return in what is likely their final contracted appearances in the series.

X-Men: Apocalypse will hit theaters on May 27th, 2016.
